lead pathologist

lead pathologist

The designated histopathologist who interacts regularly with the local or regional anatomical-site-specific multidisciplinary team created by the 1995 Calman-Hine Report. Most district general hospitals in the NHS, regardless of size, have lead pathologists for breast, colorectal, gynaecology and urologic cancers. Larger trusts serve as regional cancer centres and often have lead pathologists for ENT, skin, upper GI tract and other cancers.
