Neftianye Kamni
Neftianye Kamni
an urban-type settlement in the Azerbaijan SSR, in Azizbekov Raion of the city of Baku. The settlement was built in the Caspian Sea, around the Chernye Skaly (Black Rocks), a stone ledge barely rising above the water. Neftianye Kamni is located 42 km from the Apsheron Peninsula, on a metal platform elevated several meters above sea level and supported on metal piles cemented in boreholes drilled into the sea bottom. It was founded in 1949 when oil began to be extracted from the sea bottom.
