Negative crystal

	A cavity in a mineral mass, having the form of a crystal.
	A crystal which has the power of negative double refraction. See refraction.

negative crystal

[′neg·əd·iv ′krist·əl] (crystallography) A crystal containing a cavity, where the form of the cavity is one of the characteristic crystal forms of the mineral in question. (optics) A uniaxial crystal in which the extraordinary wave travels faster than the ordinary wave, such as calcite.
