There are some agents that act in a general manner and may be efficacious. One of these is activated charcoal, which binds most organic toxins. Whole bowel irrigation can be used to flush ingested substances from the gastrointestinal tract. When dermal exposures are suspected, the patient should be showered to remove chemicals from the skin.
