Vladimirov, Miron Konstantinovich

(pseudonym of Sheinfinkel’; Party pseudonym, Leva). Born Nov. 15 (27), 1879, in Kherson; died Mar. 20, 1925, in Nervi, near Genui. Soviet state and Party figure. Born into the family of a land tenant. In 1898, Vladimirov graduated from the Kherson agricultural school, where he was one of the organizers of a revolutionary student circle. He joined the RSDLP in 1903 and did Party work in Gomel’ and was a member of the Poles’e committee of the RSDLP. Vladimirov was a delegate to the Third Congress of the RSDLP (pseudonym, Konstantinov). During 1905-07 he did underground Party work in St. Petersburg, Odessa, Lugansk, and Ekaterinoslav. He was exiled to Siberia in August 1907. In May 1908 he escaped abroad. In 1911 he lectured on the national question in a Party school in Longjumeau (France), organized by V. I. Lenin. Then he joined the group of “conciliators.” In August 1917 he was admitted to the Bolshevik Party together with the mezhraiontsy (interregionalists). During the October Revolution he headed the Petrograd food council. Later he was a member of the collegium of the People’s Commissariat for Food. In 1919, Vladimirov was a member of the revolutionary military council and chairman of the special food commission of the southern front. In 1921 he was the people’s commissar for food, then the people’s commissar for agriculture of the Ukraine. During 1922-24 he was people’s commissar for finances of the RSFSR and deputy people’s commissar for finances of the USSR. In November 1924, Vladimirov became the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the National Economy of the USSR. In 1925 he was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR and of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Vladimirov is buried in Moscow in the Kremlin Wall in Red Square.
