Vladimir Panteleimonovich Krasnukha

Born 1867 in St. Petersburg; died Apr. 24 (May 7), 1913, in Ohrid (now in Yugoslavia). Russian revolutionary; a Narodnik (Populist) who became a Social Democrat and a Bolshevik.

Krasnukha graduated from the Military Medical Academy in 1893. In April 1902 he attended the Belostok conference as a representative of the St. Petersburg Union of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class. He fought the Economists within the St. Petersburg Union of Struggle and was a member of the organizational committee that arranged the Second Congress of the RSDLP. Krasnukha was active in the Revolution of 1905–07. In 1905–06 he was chairman of the soviet of workers’ deputies in Nikolaev. He was repeatly persecuted. In 1908 he was sentenced to exile for life in Siberia in connection with the case of the soviet of workers’ deputies in Odessa. He fled abroad from domestic exile. During the Balkan War of 1912–13, he served as a doctor. He caught typhus and died in Ohrid.
