Tonino-Aniva Peninsula

 

a peninsula in the southeastern part of Sakhalin, extending into the Sea of Okhotsk. Its northern extremity is Cape Svobodnyi (Tonin), and its southern extremity is Cape Aniva. The peninsula is 90 km long and 3–19 km wide. It is joined to Sakhalin by the Murav’ev Isthmus. The Tonino-Aniva Range extends the entire length of the peninsula; its maximum elevation is 670 m. The peninsula is covered with meadows and with greatly reduced Okhotsk spruce-fir taiga.
