polarization potential

polarization potential

[‚pō·lə·rə′zā·shən pə‚ten·chəl] (electromagnetism) One of two vectors from which can be derived, by differentiation, an electric scalar potential and magnetic vector potential satisfying the Lorentz condition. Also known as Hertz vector. (physical chemistry) The reverse potential of an electrolytic cell which opposes the direct electrolytic potential of the cell.
