Poliakov, Nikolai Sergeevich

 

Born May 5 (18), 1903, in Dnepropetrovsk. Soviet scientist in the field of mining engineering. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1967). Member of the CPSU since 1945.

After graduating from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute in 1926, Poliakov worked there from 1926 to 1967 on the planning of mining enterprises. In 1967 he was appointed director of the Institute of Mechanics of Geological Engineering of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. His main works deal with the kinematics and dynamics of mining transport equipment. Poliakov has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and various medals.
