ADRA2B

ADRA2B

A gene on chromosome 2p13-q13 that encodes alpha-2B-adrenergic receptor, a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, which plays a critical role in regulating neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and from adrenergic neurons in the CNS, smooth muscle contraction and thermoregulation. The alpha2B subtype associates with EIF-2B, a guanine nucleotide exchange protein that regulates translation.
ADRA2A agonists
Clonidine > norepinephrine > epinephrine = oxymetazoline > dopamine > p-tyramine = phenylephrine > serotonin > p-synephrine / p-octopamine.
ADRA2A antagonists
Yohimbine > chlorpromazine > phentolamine > mianserine > spiperone > prazosin >
alprenolol > propanolol > pindolol.
