Sirp Ja Vasar

(Sickle and Hammer), a Soviet Estonian weekly newspaper, the organ of the Ministry of Culture and of the creative unions of the Estonian SSR. Sirp ja Vasar has been published in Tallinn in Estonian since October 1940, except for the period between August 1941 and September 1944. The newspaper publishes literary portraits and articles and reviews dealing with Estonian literature and art, as well as poetry, short stories, and essays by Estonian writers. It also prints survey articles and information about the literature and art of other peoples of the USSR and foreign countries, as well as translations of poetry and prose. [23–1371–]
