Strip Sowing

Strip Sowing

a method of planting in which rows close together alternate with wide interrow spaces. The close rows of plants are called strips, and each row in a strip a band. A strip may have two, three, or more bands. Strip sowing is used to grow many vegetables, some industrial crops (for example, jute), groats (buckwheat, millet), chick-peas, beans, and seed plants of perennial grasses (alfalfa, sainfoin, and sweet clover). It is an effective way to control weeds and conserve soil moisture.
