Strip Steel

band steel (in coils) 0.005 to 4 mm thick and up to 600 mm wide, produced by hot or cold rolling in a strip mill. The bulk of strip steel produced is 0.5-2.0 mm thick and up to 300 mm wide.

Strip steel is made of carbon or alloy steel, depending on its intended use; it is delivered work-hardened or thermally treated, with various surface qualities and appearances (bright, dull, or with temper colors). Strip steel with a corrosion-proof finish (for instance, zinc) is also produced.

Strip steel is used in manufacturing stamped articles, welded pipes, bent shapes, watch and clock springs, razor blades, heating elements of electric furnaces and instruments, electrical and radio-engineering apparatus, and cable armor, as well as in packaging.
