Strogovich, Mikhail Solomonovich

 

Born Sept. 17 (29), 1894, in St. Petersburg. Soviet legal scholar and lawyer; specialist in criminal law. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939). Member of the CPSU since 1943.

Beginning in 1920, Strogovich practiced law in various organs of the judicial system, simultaneously doing research and teaching in the department of law at Moscow State University and at the All-Union Academy of Law, the Moscow Institute of Law, and the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the CPSU. He is a senior research worker of the Institute of Government and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and an academician of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1959). Strogovich has been awarded the Order of the October Revolution, three other orders, and various medals.
