Ringvassöya
an island belonging to Norway, off the northern coast of Scandinavia. Area, 656 sq km. Hills and low mountains to 1,001 m in elevation predominate. The island has granite cliffs, and the vegetation is typical of meadows and tundra. Colonies of birds inhabit the shores. There is fishing for cod and herring. The main town is Grunnfjord.
