A skin lesion characterised by proliferation of squamous epithelium from benign to malignant, including hyperkeratosis, Bowen’s disease, and squamous cell carcinoma. It is largely of historic interest and occurred when arsenic and arsenicals were used to treat arthritis, asthma, psoriasis, syphilis, and other conditions.
