site-specialised reporting

site-specialised reporting

A term of art referring to the reporting of surgical pathology specimens by a histopathologist who has specialised interest and expertise in the tissue or body site for which he or she is reporting the results. Site-specialised reporting has been championed in the UK, driven by the Calman Hines report, and is intimately linked to the multi-disciplinary team format of cancer management, which entails participation by a histopathologist, radiologist, oncologist, surgeon, and site-dedicated support staff.
