Arsiian
Arsiian
a mountain range on the northwestern frontier of the Armenian Highland. The northern part of the Arsiian Range extends into southern Georgia, skirting the headwaters of the Adzharistskali River from the east and joining the western edge of the Lesser Caucasus. The central and southern parts of the range are located in eastern Turkey. The southwestern edge extends to the confluence of the Oltu and Chorokha rivers. The overall length of the Arsiian Range is about 150 km; maximum altitude is 3,165 m (Mt. Arsiian). The range is composed of schist, sandstone, and volcanogenic layers. The slopes are covered with mountain forests, and the peaks are characterized by mountainmeadow topography.
