Spiridon Beshulia
Beshulia, Spiridon Erofeevich
Born Dec. 12 (25), 1907, in the village of Ulakly, Velikaia Novoselka Raion, Donetsk Oblast. Chairman (since 1937) of the Oktiabr’ Kolkhoz (before 1950, known as the Trudovaia Kolkhoz), located in Mar’inka Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Twice named Hero of Socialist Labor (1950, 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1931.
The kolkhoz that Beshulia has directed has high production figures. In 1949 the wheat crop amounted to 30.5 centners (1 centner = 100 kg) per hectare over an area of 150 hectares. In 1967 this kolkhoz’ spring grain crop amounted to 26 centners per hectare, sunflower seeds 25.8 centners per hectare, and corn 32 centners per hectare. The kolkhoz was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1967. Beshulia was a delegate to the 22nd and 23 rd Congresses of the CPSU and to the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Ukraine. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and medals of the USSR, as well as medals of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition and the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR, including the Large Gold Medal.
