vertical reverse

vertical reverse

vertical reverseVery low speed and hence very tight radius.A combat maneuver used for repositioning. The maneuver can be used when an attack or a maneuver is completed with a vertical climb. The aircraft continues straight up until it loses its flying speed. It is then ruddered around very sharply into a steep dive, gaining speed in the process. The maneuver can be used at the top of vertical scissors either to disengage or to offer a pursuer a little head-on discouragement; but, mostly, it is used for a further attack. This is a modern version of a stall turn.
