Ozhogina

a river in the Yakut ASSR, a left tributary of the Kolyma River. It is 523 km long and drains an area of 24,300 sq km. The Ozhogina forms as a result of the confluence of the Sulakkan and Del’kiu rivers, which originate in the Moma Range. It meanders in an east-southeasterly direction through the Ozhogina Valley. There are more than 2,800 lakes in the river basin, with a total area of 908 sq km. The Ozhogina is fed by snow and rain. It freezes over in October, freezes to the bottom in winter, and breaks up rapidly in May. The largest tributaries are the Khoska, a left tributary, and the Checheliugium, a right tributary. The lower course is traveled by cutters.
