Polycross

a cross used in selective plant breeding; a method of mass experimental crossbreeding. It involves finding clones of strains that, upon crossbreeding with other clones or strains of the same species, yield the most productive plants. The resulting plants are used in developing a new “synthetic variety.” This method is used in the selective breeding of plants that can be successfully cloned (perennial herbs and annuals and biennials that propagate vegetatively).
