polycystic ovary

A condition of unknown origin featuring enlargement of the ovaries with multiple cysts. It ranges from simple, symptomless ovarian cysts detected as an unexpected finding or ultrasound examination, to a major endocrine upset known as the POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME.
