Structural Physics, Institute of
(full name, Scientific Research Institute of Structural Physics), a research institute in Moscow under the jurisdiction of Gosstroi (the State Committee of the USSR for Construction). The institute was founded in 1944 under the name of the Scientific Research Institute of Structural Engineering. It became the Scientific Research Institute of Structural Physics and Enclosing Members in 1957 and has had its present name since 1964.
The institute carries out theoretical and experimental research on problems in heat engineering, acoustics, and illumination engineering that pertain to construction. It has both regular and correspondence graduate students, and its academic council is empowered to accept candidate’s dissertations for defense. The institute publishes scientific works and materials from scientific conferences.
