Vladimir Stepanovich Ershov

Ershov, Vladimir Stepanovich

 

Born July 15 (28), 1904, in the village of Suslovo, now in Brasovo Raion, Briansk Oblast. Soviet parasitologist. Academician of VASKhNIL (the V. I. Lenin Ail-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences). Member of the CPSU since 1941.

Ershov graduated from the Leningrad Veterinary Institute in 1925. From 1925 to 1929 he worked as a veterinarian. Since 1929 he has done scientific research in helminthology at various institutions. In 1954–55 he was director of the Moscow Institute of Down and Fur. Since 1957, Ershov has been director of the K. I. Skriabin All-Union Institute of Helminthology. His main works are on the study of immunity to helminths. Ershov has received four orders and a number of medals.
