[′kwid·ə‚rän] (electronics) A three-terminal superconducting switch that consists of three superconducting layers separated by two ultrathin insulating layers, and operates by heavy injection of quasiparticles into a common, thin middle electrode to create a nonequilibrium state and cause the properties of the electrode to become those of a normal metal.
