Sánchez Sancho, Luís
Born 1942. Leading figure of the labor movement in Nicaragua. Member of the Nicaraguan Socialist Party (NSP), a communist party, since 1960.
The son of workers, Sánchez Sancho is a textile worker by occupation. He participated in the progressive youth movement and was a member of the secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Socialist Youth of Nicaragua. He became a member of the Central Committee of the NSP in 1962, a member of the Political Commission and of the Executive Secretariat of the Central Committee of the NSP in November 1966, and first secretary of the Central Committee of the NSP in August 1969. Sánchez Sancho has frequently been arrested and imprisoned. He has written works on the labor and trade union movement in Nicaragua.
