(rit'ĕr di-zēz') An exfoliative dermatitis, also known as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS), caused by an exfoliative toxin-producing strain of Staphylococcus aureus characterized by the presence of large bullae and exfoliation of the epidermal layer of the skin.
