Strömgren, Svante Elis
Born May 31, 1870, in Hälsing-borg, Sweden; died Apr. 5, 1947, in Copenhagen. Danish astronomer, specialist in celestial mechanics.
From 1907 to 1940, Strömgren was a professor at the University of Copenhagen and director of the university’s observatory. His principal works were devoted to the evolution of comet orbits and to the special case of the three-body problem known as the Copenhagen problem. He also studied various problems in astrophysics and stellar astronomy.
