amelogenin

A structural protein used as a drug to treat PERIODONTITIS. The drug is formulated as a gel that is placed under a flap in the gum surrounding the root of the tooth and promotes regrowth of gum tissue that has been destroyed by the inflammatory process. A brand name is Emdogain.
