Rize
a city and port on the Black Sea coast of Turkey; administrative center of the vilayet of Rize. Population, 31,000 (1970). It is the commercial and industrial center of Turkey’s main tea-growing region and has food (tea factories, a cod-liver oil plant) and woodworking industries. Handicrafts, such as carpets and fabrics, are also produced.
