a city (until 1967, a settlement) and administrative center of Stučka Raion, Latvian SSR. Stuíka is situated on the right bank of the Daugava River (Zapadnaia Dvina River), 2 km from the Aizkraukle railroad station and 87 km southeast of. Riga. It developed as a result of the construction of the Pļaviņas Hydroelectric Power Plant. The city is named in honor of Pēteris Stučka.
