Rabbit Ear Appearance

A descriptive term for 2 elongated, finger-like structures joined at a base
Cardiology A rabbit ear pattern occurs in a variant QRS wave, allowing the differentiation of ventricular tachycardia from the relatively innocent supraventricular tachycardia, in which the left ‘ear’ spike is higher than the right
Microbiology A rabbit’s ear appearance can be seen in either (1) The acute angular budding of arthrospores by light microscopy of the imperfect fungus Trichophyton or (2) the piroplasts of Babesia microti which tend to form packets of 2’s and 3’s of intracytoplasmic parasites within red cells
