axial resolution

axial resolution

The spatial resolution of an image in the direction of ultrasound propagation in pulse-echo ultrasonography, which is determined primarily by the duration of the ultrasonic pulse.
The ultrasonic pulse is the period of time of mechanical reverberation of the transducer after electric stimulation; ≥ 2 objects or organs aligned in the axial direction cannot be distinguished if they are separated by ≤ half a pulse length; autosomal recessive is believed to have reached its maximum with the introduction of modern ferroelectric ceramic transducers, which have improved backing and matching layers.
