An uncommonly used term for a medically qualified doctor in the UK who has trained in the specialty of paediatrics and child health.While the term paediatrician is far more commonly used, some believe that it lends to confusion, given that American pediatricians receive less specialised training and are considered primary care doctors with interest in child health, whereas the UK paediatrician has several more years of training and is regarded as a specialist in the same vein as an endocrinologist or nephrologist.
