(trem'bĕlz), An intoxication of cattle, dogs, goats, horses, rabbits and sheep, caused by eating white snakeroot, Eupatorium rugosum; the active agent is a higher alcohol, tremetol, which in the case of intoxicated cows, is eliminated in their milk, thus causing milk sickness when ingested by humans.
