Annual Forage Grass

Annual Forage Grass

an herbaceous plant with a life-span of one year that is raised for livestock feed. Annual forage grasses include plants from the families Leguminosae (common vetch, field pea, grass pea, yellow lupine, serradella, Italian clover) and Gramineae (foxtail millet, Sudan grass, annual rye-grass). These plants are often grown together with other crops; for example, common vetch and field pea are mixed with oats, and Sudan grass with soybean. On natural lands, annual forage grasses are most widely found in the semidesert and desert zones.
