turn-aroundi. The length of time between the arrival of an aircraft at a point and its being ready to depart from that point. It includes loading, unloading, refueling, and re-arming.
ii. A taxiway adjacent to the runway ends that the aircraft uses to change direction, hold, or bypass other aircraft.
iii. As it pertains to the flight-duty period of the flight crew, it is the time spent on the ground during a flight-duty period between two flight sectors.
iv. For civilian aircrew, a flight from a base to another airport and back on the same day, without a layover (e.g., A “Honolulu turn-around” for a Los Angeles—based crew).
