Topical Bibliography

(tematicheskaia bibliografiia; some times translated as “subject bibliography”), a directory of printed works listed according to subject. In contradistinction to special bibliographies, which contain the literature of a given area of knowledge, topical bibliographies provide a selection of material independent of the field of learning. In accordance with GOST (All-Union State Standard) 16448–70, entitled Bibliography: Terms and Definitions, the term “topical directory of literature” (tematicheskii ukazatel’ literatury) has been introduced to replace the term “topical bibliography.”
