annual limit on intake

The derived limit of the amount of radioactive material taken into the body by inhalation or by ingestion of a given radionuclide by a worker in one year, which would result in a committed effective dose equivalent of 0.05 Sieverts (Sv) (50 rems), or a committed dose equivalent of 0.5 Sv (5 rems) to an individual organ or tissue. In the UK, the limit is 2.2 mSv/year, > 50% of which is from inhaling radon gas in the environment.
