popliteal entrapment syndrome

Cramping of the calf muscles after exercise or during dorsiflexion of the ankle. It is a relatively rare type of claudication typically identified in young athletes rather than in patients with established atherosclerotic vascular disease. The cause is compression of the popliteal artery by muscles in the popliteal fossae.
