[TA] two groups of nodes located in the popliteal fossa: the superficial popliteal lymph nodes, located around the termination of the small saphenous vein, which drain the skin of the back of the leg and lateral side of the foot; and the deep popliteal lymph nodes, located around the popliteal vessels, which drain the superficial group, the deep structures of the leg, and the knee joint.
