Situated on the right bank of the Kuda River, a tributary of the Angara, Ust’-Ordynskii is on the Angara-Lena road (Irkutsk-Kachug road), 62 km northeast of Irkutsk. Local enterprises include a butter factory and a logging and timber distribution establishment. The settlement has an okrug museum of local lore.
