radar separation

radar separation

The separation used when aircraft position information is derived from radar sources (ICAO). The traffic is spaced out in accordance with the established minimums. The separation minimums are basically 5 NM and, at the discretion of the authority, when within 40 NM of the radar and below flight level 245, 3 NM; both these assume that primary and secondary radars are available. If only the secondary is available, then the radar separation is 8 NM.
