Visual evoked potential Neurology A clinical test in which the retina and optic nerve are stimulated with external stimuli in the form of a shifting checkerboard pattern; the response to the stimulus is recorded by EEG electrodes over the occipital scalp, appears 100 msec after the stimulus as a single positive peak on a graph–the so-called P-100; P-100 is slowed and/or its waveform altered in various eye lesions, classically in multiple sclerosis, but also in glaucoma, tumors, ischemic, nutritional, toxic neuropathies, and pseudotumor cerebri.
