visual glide-path indicator visual glide-path indicatorA system of visible lights arranged in a pattern at the landing end of the runway to provide glide-slope guidance for aircraft making a visual approach. A typical system consists of downwind and upwind bars, consisting of 2, 3, 4, or 12 lights on each side of the runway, with each light projecting a red lower segment and white upper segment. When the aircraft is on a glide path, the pilot observes only pink lights, and when it is below the glide path, the light indications are red. The same as a visual approach slope indicator (VASI). |
