Motors, iron castings, clothing and textiles, and paper products are among the city's manufactures. Radford Univ. is there. In western VA, 14 mi. northeast of Pulaski. Name Origin: Previously called Lovely Mount, English Ferry, Ingle's Ferry, and Central Depot. Established as the town of Central City in 1885; incorporated in 1887. Name changed in 1890 to honor the original landowner, Dr. John Blair Radford; incorporated as a city in 1892
