Skrjabinema Infection
Skrjabinema Infection
a widespread helminthiasis affecting sheep, goats, reindeer, caribou, and wild ruminants that is caused by nematodes of the genus Skrjabinema, which parasitize the large intestine. The source of the causative agent is infected animals. Infection occurs through the ingestion of invasive ova of Skrjabinema with fodder. The parasites cause itching in the rectum and perianal region. The animals scratch their tails, upon which excoriations and ulcerations form. The treatment of Skrjabinema infection has not been developed. Preventive treatment includes the observance of hygienic housing rules for animals. [23–1585–]
