Skrunda

an urban-type settlement in Kuldīga Raion, Latvian SSR. Located on the Venta River, 155 km southwest of Riga. Railroad station on the Riga-Liepāja line. Population, 4,500 (1974). Skrunda has a fish-breeding sovkhoz; peat is cut nearby.
