Duties include positioning and caring for patients; calibration of teletherapy equipment; preparation of brachytherapy equipment and handling of radioactive materials; assisting the radiation physicist in preparation of isodose curves, performance of computer estimations, and preparation of wedge and compensating filters; observing the patient for signs of clinical progress or complications that require consultation with the physician; and observing radiation safety measures. Individuals completing an accredited program and passing the certification examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists are designated RT(T)(ARRT), Registered Technologist.
